Force of Habit Interview

Continuing my search for work experience, I began to contact the studios I had previously discovered. The first games development studio that I contacted was Force of Habit. Through emailing them, we decided on a date for a work experience placement at the studio. After a long period of no communication, I discovered that the studio had disbanded, and so I reached out for an e-mail interview instead. I conducted the interview and collected a log of the entire e-mail conversation - seen below.

The First Step...

In starting my search for work experience placements, I initially searched for art companies and galleries in my local area. With few options, I decided to broaden my search and look for different forms of artistic jobs, further afield. There I stumbled upon video-game art and game design. By using an Internet tool (1), I was able to search for game development studios across the country, and decided to try the closest studios first.

I eventually narrowed my search down to a couple of studios in the Bristol area, each boasting impressive prestige in both their games' art styles and knowledge of game design (2). My next step is to contact these studios, in the hopes of gaining an opportunity to shadow and interview the developers on their game-making and artistic processes.
